The American philosopher Sidney Morgenbesser, who I know about only through a university friend, has died. Stories of his quick and acerbic wit abound. My favourite is his summary judgment on Pragmatism: "Its okay in theory, but in practice it doesn't work."
His death seems rather under-reported. I heard about it at Norman Geras's blog.
